What is Postelo?

Postelo is a place for people who enjoy sending and receiving real postcards. Members exchange postcards with random partners from around the world, based on selected themes and interests.

How does it work?

You select a postcard theme, request an address, and send a real postcard to the member chosen by the system. You will also receive an exchange ID. Write this ID on the postcard so your partner can register it when it arrives. If you prefer lower postage costs and faster delivery, you may choose to exchange postcards only with members from your own country.

What happens after my postcard is registered?

After your postcard arrives and your partner registers the exchange ID, you become eligible to receive a postcard from another random member.

What kind of postcard should I send?

You should send a real postcard that matches the selected theme as well as possible. Themes may include birds, animals, city views, landscapes, castles and many others.

Can I choose the member who receives my postcard?

No. The system randomly selects your partner. This keeps the exchange fair and surprising for everyone.

Can I choose the country?

You cannot choose a specific country or member. The exchange partner is selected randomly. However, you can choose whether you want international exchanges or exchanges only with members from your own country, which can help reduce postage costs and delivery time.

Should I use an envelope?

Postelo is mainly about postcards sent through the mail. Unless your partner clearly asks otherwise, send the postcard without an envelope, with a written message and stamps on it.

Should I use real stamps?

Real stamps are strongly encouraged whenever possible. They make the postcard more personal and more interesting for collectors.

What should I write on the postcard?

Write a friendly message. You can introduce yourself, say something about the postcard, your city or country, or why you chose that theme. Do not forget to write the exchange ID clearly.

Where do I find the exchange ID?

The exchange ID is shown immediately on the sending page after you request an address. You can also find it later in the "Postcards exchanges" page. If you enable this option in your settings, you can also receive an email with the postcard details. If the email does not arrive, please check your spam or junk folder.

What if I forget to write the exchange ID?

Your partner may not be able to register the postcard. If this happens, they can try to identify the exchange using your name, username, country or the date when the postcard was received, but registration is not guaranteed.

How long does a postcard take to arrive?

Delivery time depends on the postal services of both countries. Some postcards arrive in a few days, while others may take several weeks.

What if my postcard never arrives?

Sometimes mail gets delayed or lost. If a postcard does not arrive after a long time, the exchange may expire according to the site rules.

What if I receive a postcard that does not match the selected theme?

Please register the postcard if it arrived and includes a valid exchange ID. Theme matching depends on the sender's available postcards and interpretation of the theme. However, members are expected to do their best to send a postcard that fits the selected theme.

Is there a rating system?

Yes. When you register a received postcard, you can rate the exchange from 1 to 5 stars. The rating should reflect the overall exchange experience, including whether the postcard matches the selected theme, the care taken by the sender, and the general quality of the postcard.

Can I send handmade, ad or folded cards?

Unless your partner's preferences allow them, you should send a standard real postcard in good condition. Handmade cards, advertising cards, folded greeting cards or printed photos may not be appreciated by all members.

Can I have more than one exchange at the same time?

This depends on your account status and the site limits. As you send postcards and they are registered, you may be able to request more addresses.

Why are themes important?

Themes help members receive postcards they are more likely to enjoy. They also make each exchange more intentional: one member chooses a theme, another sends a postcard that matches it, and both share a small piece of the world through mail.

What themes can I choose?

The available themes may include subjects such as birds, animals, city views, landscapes, castles, maps, art, nature, historical places and other postcard topics. The list may grow over time.

Can I update my interests?

Yes. You can update your interests and preferred themes at any time from your account settings. Keeping your themes updated helps other members send postcards you will enjoy.

What makes a good Postelo member?

A good member sends postcards on time, chooses cards that match the selected theme, writes clearly, includes the exchange ID, uses real stamps whenever possible, and registers received postcards promptly.

Is Postelo for collectors only?

No. Postelo is for anyone who enjoys real postcards, mail, small surprises and friendly international exchanges. Collectors are welcome, but you do not need to be an expert to join.
